The 16th CLSA Feng Shui Index has been released with a tongue-in-cheek look at what 2010 holds for equities, commodities, property, celebrities, and the zodiac signs in the months ahead.
The previous year of the Golden Tiger was in 1950, a year that saw the Dow Jones Index gain significantly and end the year on a high note. However, tiger years are typically times of dramatic changes and upheaval. The year 2010, much like the tiger itself, will be an energetic and powerful time marked by impulsiveness and risk.
Since this is a metal tiger year, gold is forecast to have a great run and break at US$2,000 an ounce. Moreover, the index predicts that all commodities will fair well including silver, copper, zinc and aluminum.
Businesses related to wood elements will also do well: pulp and paper, clothing and pharmaceuticals. Fire and earth elements like technology, power, telecoms and property will also have a good run this year but water related sectors will be challenged, posing a threat the for shipping, airlines, logistics, autos and transport industries.
